Comment Policy
Citizen testimony is not limited to three minutes here. But please observe the following guidelines when leaving comments:
- In compliance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), you must be 13 or over to participate, or you must submit a permission form. Please see the COPPA page for details.
- Be civil. Debate, don’t argue. No ad hominem. Stick to facts. Critique of grammar and spelling is lame, so don’t even start with it.
- Respect the privacy of students, including those of public figures (like school board members), and also your own.
- This site is provided for the discussion of public policy, primarily the policies of Portland Public Schools. Discussion of personal choices, especially of others, is out of bounds.
- Comments may be edited for brevity or violation of this policy.
- Don’t hijack topics. If you want to start your own topic, you may be able to write a guest post for PPS Equity. Contact us with queries.
- We reserve the right to delete comments or ban users for any or no reason.
- Users may be placed on “probation” and have all comments subject to moderation if they flirt with the boundaries of these guidelines.
- Banned or probationary users will not be notified of their status. It is their responsibility to follow the rules.
- By leaving a comment, you grant a nonexclusive license to use and re-use your comment in any medium or forum, and for any purpose.
- The publisher of this site takes no responsibility for comments left by anyone other than himself.
- An e-mail address is required to post, but this will never be published or shared without your explicit consent. This may be used by the blog owners to contact you privately, but will never be used in any other way.
- A name is required, but it needn’t be your real name. Make one up if you want, but please don’t use somebody else’s name.
- If you make up a name, please use it every time you post. (No sock puppets.)
- This policy may be updated at any time and without notice.
Please also take note of the Privacy Policy.
