Forwarded from PPS library staff; supporters of PPS libraries and library staff are encouraged to attend! –ed

Staff, administrators, teachers, parents and community are invited to attend a community forum focusing on school libraries. The meeting is scheduled for January 14, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Grant High School Library.

This group will provide input on a district vision to improve and integrate the services provided by and for school libraries. The focus is to increase capacity for information literacy instruction and improving library administrative services.

    It was a great presentation by Library Service TOSA Susan Stone and a really great turnout.

    It is very encouraging to hear somebody begin to articulate a comprehensive vision for at least one part of PPS.

    Plus, there’s nothing like being in a room full of librarians. When they talk about equity, there’s no mistaking that they “get it.”

    Equity would be good. It would also be good to have some money to replace the hundreds of books taken from our library in May and discarded…with what seemed to be no rhyme or reason…for this new library initiative… Some of them brand new books. We had some mighty unhappy teachers in our school.
